Hi! My name's Carylanna ("carol-ana") Taylor. After pursuing an academic career that culminated in a doctorate in applied cultural anthropology and a series of temporary teaching positions, I chose to pursue filmmaking as a way to apply my two decades of studies and experience. Transitioning fields mid-career is giving me a unique perspective that might be helpful to others.

I started this blog to share my observations and lessons-learned as I encounter the creative process and business of filmmaking. Along the way, I’ll also share an insider view of the projects I'm making with my First Encounter Productions writing/producing partner, Jacob Okada.
